Veteran South Indian Actress Pushpalatha No More

The film industry has lost another veteran as actress Pushpalatha passed away. She had been suffering from health issues for some time and breathed her last at the age of 87 at her residence in Chennai last night. Several film personalities have expressed their condolences on her demise.

Originally from Mettupalayam near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, Pushpalatha made her Telugu film debut in 1955 with Cherapakura Chedevu, starring Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) in the lead role. Over the years, she acted in more than 100 films across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema. She shared screen space with legendary actors such as M.G. Ramachandran (MGR), Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan, and Jaishankar. In Telugu cinema, she earned widespread recognition for her performances in numerous films.

In 1963, while working on the AVM Rajan-starrer Nanum Oru Penn, Pushpalatha and Rajan fell in love and later got married. The couple had two daughters, one of whom went on to pursue a career as a film actress.
