How Consecutive Flops Affect the Careers of Actresses

Mrunal Thakur, who earned considerable fame through television serials, ventured into films and made her Tollywood debut with the blockbuster Sita Ramam. Following the film's massive success, it was widely believed that she would sustain her momentum in the Telugu film industry. To capitalize on this success, she paired with Nani in Hi Nanna and later featured alongside Vijay Deverakonda in Family Star.

However, Hi Nanna managed to only moderately impress family audiences, while Family Star failed to make a mark at all. Consequently, there seems to be a lack of interest among filmmakers in casting Mrunal Thakur in their projects. Despite her efforts to counter criticism that she is only suited for homely roles, her recent flops have overshadowed her attempts.

In the film industry, the success of a film is often credited to the male lead, whereas flops tend to reflect on everyone, including the female lead. The "flop actress" label becomes a near-permanent stigma, one that is hard to shake off. As a result, actresses who experience consecutive flops often disappear from the limelight. This situation is not unique to Mrunal Thakur but has also been experienced by actresses like Raashi Khanna, Mehreen Pirzada, and Anupama Parameswaran, who have faced similar challenges in recent times.
