Sajjanar Tweets on Digital Arrests to Raise Cybercrime Awareness
Sajjanar emphasized that a lack of awareness is the primary reason individuals fall victim to cyber fraud. He clarified, “No investigative agency in India asks for personal information over the phone. Law enforcement agencies neither threaten nor operate online to intimidate individuals. If someone does, they are impersonators.”
To further educate the public, Sajjanar advised citizens to act promptly: “If you receive a threatening phone call claiming a digital arrest, do not panic. Report it to your nearest police station immediately. Also, call the National Cybercrime Helpline at 1930 without delay to report such incidents.”
