Indian-American named to Maryland cabinet

Washington, Jan 16: Maryland State's Republican Governor-elect Larry Hogan has named Indian-American businessman Sam Mahotra to head the Department of Human Resources. Mahotra is founder and chief executive of Subsytem Technologies Inc. in Arlington, Virginia. He becomes the first Indian-American to ever be appointed to a Governor's Cabinet in Maryland. He previously served in Governor Robert L. Ehrlich's Administration as a volunteer on the Maryland Commission for Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs. "I am truly humbled and honoured to serve in Governor Hogan's Administration," Malhotra was quoted as saying by the Baltimore Sun.
