Citing interference, Censor Board Chief Leela Sampson quits post

New Delhi, Jan 16, 2015: Leela Sampson, Chief of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) of India , has quit her post alleging Government interference in the affairs of the Board, coercion on members and corruption of officers. She quit her post on Thursday after the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) had cleared the release of the movie 'MSG-The Messenger of God' in which Dera Saccha Sauda President Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh acted in the lead role. Earlier, the Censor Board had refused permission for the release of the movie saying it is not eligible for public screening. Then the producers appealed in the Appellate Tribunal. The Board had earlier refused to succumb to pressure from the Sangh Parivar which demanded it to remove some scenes from the Amir Khan starrer PK.
