WHO on alert as deadly 'Marburg' virus comes to light in Africa's Ghana

New Delhi: Deadly viruses continue to haunt the countries of the world. At a time when the Corona epidemic is already shaking the world, the fear of another dangerous virus is causing concern. The most deadly 'Marburg' virus has come to light in the African country of Ghana. On Sunday, Ghana officially announced that two cases had been discovered. It is said that tests were conducted on two people, who died a few days ago and the deadly virus was confirmed.

Although it was found positive on July 10, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said that the results were sent to a lab in Senegal to be checked again. Ghana's Department of Health announced that the tests conducted at the Institute Pasteur in Senegal tested positive.

It said that measures have been taken to prevent the spread of the virus in the area where the cases have come to light. It learnt that those who came in contact with the patients were taken to isolation and none of them showed symptoms of the virus. This is the second occurrence of the Marburg virus in Africa. The first case was reported in Guinea last year. After that, no cases came to light.
