Child adoption notice: Karate Kalyani fails to appear before Hyd Collector

Hyderabad, May 16: Tollywood character artiste and Bigg Boss fame Karate Kalyani on Monday failed to appear before Hyderabad Collector Sharman after officials of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) served a notice to her regarding adoption of two children: one is aged 11 and another two months.
 
The CWC officials with the help of police visited the residence of Kalyani on Sunday evening. But she was not present in the house and collected information from her mother. Kalyani mother reportedly told that she adopted them from Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts in Andhra Pradesh. 
 
According to reports, she did not follow the procedure laid down by the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) for adoption of kids. The Collector said if she found guilty then Kalyani has to serve jail term for three years. Since the child adoption controversy erupted, she went into hiding as her mobile was switched off. Sources said that she is trying to engage a lawyer to get relief from the High Court.
