Chennai HC favours legalizing massage centers
Chennai, Dec 18, 2014: In a land mark development, Chennai High Court opined on Thursday that there is a need to legalize massage centers in India like in Malaysia and Thailand. Responding to a petition filed by owners of massage centers in the city opposing frequent police raids, a division bench headed by Justice Subramaniyan asked the Government to think over taking suitable steps to legalize massage centers. "There are separate laws, rules and regulations to oversee massage centers in Thailand and Malaysia. Why don't we have such laws and rules here?," the bench said, directing the government to submit a report on the feasibility of legalizing and regularizing the massage centers. He deferred further hearing on the petition till Dec 31.
