NCP leader Sharad Pawar hurt, flown to Mumbai
New Delhi, Dec 3: National Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar here on Wednesday was injured when he slipped during morning walk at his Janpath bungalow and has been taken to Mumbai by an air ambulance.
The 75-year-old Pawar is reported to have suffered injury in his leg and in his back. He is expected to be admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, his family sources said.
His wife Pratibha Pawar and daughter Supriya Sule are accompanying him.
Pawar, who had left Congress to form NCP in 1999, is a Rajya Sabha member at present. He was also a three-time chief minister of Maharashtra and a former union minister.
The accident came barely a week before Pawar's 75th birthday Dec 12. He was born in 1940.
