Centre approves TS Land Act, sends to President

Hyderabad, May.9: The Centre has given its nod for Telangana Land Acquisition Amendment Act 2016 and it was sent for President Pranab Mukherjee’s assent, according to information.

After giving green signal, the Union Home Ministry officials are said to have sent the Act to Rashtrapathi Bhavan for the assent of Pranab Mukherjee. With this, Telangana could go in for land acquisition for projects and developmental works soon. According to the information, the Centre approved the Telangana Land Acquisition Act after it sought some more amendments to the previous Act by the Telangana Government.

It is pertinent to note here that the Telangana government has passed a bill in the Assembly by making a few amendments to the Centre’s 2013 Land Acquisition Act. Unhappy with the state government land acquisition act the Centre sought the Telangana dispensation to make a few more amendments. It asked to ensure that the victims and land givers get suitable compensation at the earliest besides taking all rehabilitation and replacement measures in a transparent manner.

The State government conducted a special Assembly session for making the same and sent back to the Centre and Union Home Ministry gave its approval as promised. It was being said the President is expected to give his nod for the Land Acquisition Amendment Act.
It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao urged the Centre time and again to give its nod for the same. At his directive, Government Advisor Rajiv Sharma, who is in the national capital, pursued the issue for logical end to get the Central government’s green signal. Thus, it paves way for the State government to acquire land it needs for completing the projects and developmental works.
