AP keen on making power sector most efficient, consumer-friendly in country
Amaravathi, May.7: Consequent to the deliberations during the National Power Ministers Conference at New Delhi, the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh has decided to take up special mechanism to further strengthen consumer centric mechanism in power sector to provide highly qualitative consumer services in a time bound manner. As a part of this program, the entire power system will be geared up to meet the objective of Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu to make AP Power sector as one of the most efficient, effective and Consumer friendly in the country, duly complying best global practices in consumer services.
The Power Minister Kala Venkat Rao, who has held a review meeting in teleconference with the top brass officials of power sector, has directed the power utilities to conduct periodical “Meet Your Consumer” congregations at District & Mandal levels for addressing consumer concerns in a faster way. The Utilities were instructed to render World Class services to the Consumers in the State by means of continuous enhancement of Transmission & Distribution infrastructure, adoption of latest Information Technology (IT) Tools, development of user friendly Mobile APPs facilitating consumer services and monitoring and rectification of outages. Resolve any power redressal issue raised by the consumers particularly replacement of failed distribution transformers within 24 Hrs in Urban / 48Hrs in rural areas & ensure that no consumer complaint escalates to higher level for lack of redressal, directed the Minister.
Keeping in view the high temperatures in mid summer, which is ranging from 40oC to 450C, power demand is likely to increase drastically. Make all arrangements for meeting augmented demand. The Discoms should focus on attending the outage-complaints on war footing basis. I have received complaints yesterday from consumers of Poranki, Vijayawada that there was power interruption for around 15 minutes. The Discoms need to ensure that power interruptions are restored within very short duration, said the Minister.
Ajay Jain, Prl. Secretary, Energy, I&I, & CRDA Dept and Vijayanand Prl. Secy, IT & CMD/ APTRANSCO & MD/APGENCO who have participated in the teleconference from U.S., informed that the AP DISCOMs have been adopting World Class parameters such as System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI) and System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) for monitoring of feeder interruptions and taking corrective measures promptly. Online Monitoring System of all existing 11 KV Feeders to the extent of around 10,000 in the State has been set up, for real time monitoring of Power supply position, interruptions and restoration of Power supply. Monitoring and Tracking System (MATS) to monitor power theft and pilferage, Distribution transformer system to track & replace failed transformers are adopted to provide better consumer services.
