AP may explore legal options on Inter exams: Ganta

Visakhapatnam, Nov 15: The government of Andhra Pradesh has once again appealed to the Telangana government to have a common schedule for Intermediate examinations. Reacting to the announcement that Intermediate examinations will begin in Telangana on March 9, AP Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao said here on Saturday that the state government will first approach the Governor on this issue. He then said his government was also prepared to explore legal options to resolve the issue. Srinivasa Rao said AP Re-organisation Act has stipulated that the two states must have common examinations for a certain period of time and that a common examination would be beneficial to the students as there is weightage for Inter marks in EAMCET ranks. Since Inter first year exams were common, he said having separate exams for Inter second year will create confusion among students. He went on to add that exams in one state may be tough and easy in the other. Stating that AP was ready to follow the Telangana schedule, the minister said the AP Chief Secretary was asked to discuss the issue with his Telangana counterpart. Nine lakh students in Telangana and 11 lakh in AP are appearing for the Intermediate examinations. Regretting that TS Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was still in the agitation mode, the minister said KCR was not following the content of the AP Reorganisation Act.
