KTR opens smart phone manufacturing unit in city

Hyderabad, April.7 : IT Minister KT Rama Rao today inaugurated SmartRan India Company (smartphone manufacturing company) at Nanakramguda.

Speaking on the occasion, KTR said the manufacturing industry has bright future as the State government brought a new policy to encourage the manufacturing sector. He also said Blue-Collar employment will increase in Hyderabad and  SmartRan India Company was the fourth one in smart phone manufacturing industry in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad was transforming into a Mobile and Electronic Manufacturing Cluster, he said, adding that two more mobile manufacturing plants were in the queue to start their companies in Hyderabad. It may be recalled that the State government entered into an MoU with the SmartRan company earlier.

Telangana government is making efforts to attract investments in the electronic sector. Hyderabad has already witnessed the setting up of manufacturing units and research and development centres of companies such as Celkon, Micromax, DataWind and Smatron. While the Government of India was encouraging manufacturing in India more so in the electronics sector, the State government too was taking active measures to provide ecosystem for companies to set up base and flourish. KTR said, “The growth in the electronic sector will create more blue collar jobs.

Several experts in the space from across Asia are coming and training the staff working in the electronics manufacturing facilities, and this exercise will help build the skill capabilities in the long run. We are talking to two more electronic companies which are interested in setting up manufacturing operations in the State.

Mobile R&D activity is picking up in Hyderabad as the existing companies are setting up full-fledged centres. Micromax, for instance is setting up a centre in one-acre land. R&D efforts of Smartron will also help the ecosystem in the future,” he added. Emphasising that technology remains the key growth driver of the State, KTR said, the State is contemplating to launch tcloud soon.
