Minister To Lose His Home For Road Widening
Thiruvananthapuram: There is a popular notation among the masses that only poor and downtrodden lose their lands for infrastructure and development projects. But it may not be correct all the times. G Sudhakaran, Minister for Public works in Kerala government has given his acceptance to demolish his home at Thookkukulam for widening the Kazhakkoottam-Cherthala NH stretch. NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) and public works department had made several rounds of discussion before finalising the alignment. A senior officer said "Minister was very much positive to the proposal. He told that there was no need for any sort of confusion in including his personal land in the alignment. A final call will be taken on Friday but it would be certain that Minister's house will have to be demolished partially." Long back Intercontinental Consultants and Technocrats Pvt Ltd, a Delhi based organisation had proposed the alignment. According to it Minister's house need to be demolished partially.
