CM KCR to increase reservation for all backward communities according to population

Telangana is contemplating to adopt the way of its neighbouring state to provide reservations. As per constitution, the reservations quota should not exceed 50%. But the Tamil Nadu state has reserved 69% of quota in education and employment for weaker sections. To enact this law, the Tamil Nadu state government cited the reason of population mix and referred the matter to centre which was appended in ninth schedule of the constitution by an amendment. Telangana CM KCR is in the opinion to follow the footsteps of Tamil Nadu government to provide reservations according to population proportion. As most of Telangana state population contributed by backward castes and the experts opined that the reservation limit of 50% limit should be amended in line with population. KCR government committed to provide reservation to Muslims and other backward castes. Mr. Rao asked the commission to take up in-depth study of the socio-economic conditions of all caste groups and make recommendations to the government for their uplift. He is strongly pitching for reservations in proportion to population. Already, the government received recommendations by G. Sudhir committee which studied the socio-economic conditions of Muslims. In similar manner, the recommendations sought from BC community also.
