Avoid rain problems: GHMC tells People

Hyderabad, Sept. 21: GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy today appealed to the people to be cautious as the twin cities are likely to hit by heavy rains for another couple of days. Talking to reporters here he said that they have taken measures to bring down the problem caused due to heavy rains. We have pressed into service the rescue teams at selected places and people should be cautious and avoid venturing onto roads which are clogged with heavy rains. Several low-lying areas marooned in waters as the last night witnessed heavy rains in two hours Janardhan Reddy said. There were complaints of water stagnated at 120 places in the twin cities are the civic staff is pressed into service he said. Breach of several lakes and water bodies led to maroon the colonies and 200 emergency teams are pressed into service and cleared the roads clogged with rain waters he said. Taking a cue from Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to be extra alert, the civic staff plunged into immediate action. He also asked the vehicle users to avoid coming onto roads as it will compound the traffic problem. The four-wheeler users should venture outside if it is emergency he added. Referring to reports of a crater on NTR Marg the civic chief clarified that manhole was damaged and not the collapse of the road. Hussain Sagar which is full to capacity is causing other concern for the officials. Full tank level of this huge lake is 513.57 mt which is receiving 4000 cusecs inflow and 2000 cusecs outflow. The officials are planning to release more waters out as Begumpet and Prashanthnagar colonies, Prakashnagar and Mahammedguda bridge are inundated while there is danger of more flood flows in Chikkadapally and Nallakunta nalas.
