Cyberabad CP holds meet to discuss steps to avert mishaps on Nehru ORR

Hyderabad, Sept.19: Sandeep Sandilya, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, today conducted a meeting on the issues related to accidents on the Nehru Outer Ring Road. Stephen Ravindra, IPS, Jt.CP, all Zonal DCsP, DCP Traffic and the Project Director, CGM of ORR, Project Manager, EIIL and other heads from Eagle Infra India Ltd., EPC., HEC & CEC Consortium, EHEL, participated in the meeting. While inviting the dignitaries, the Commissioner requested them to evolve and improve a mechanism to reduce the number of accidents and enhance the safety of commuters. The PD, ORR claimed that they have extended the road built-up area from 137 Km to 156.9 Km. All the three aspects --- Engineering, Education and Enforcement were discussed at length. It was asserted by the ORR officials that there was no flaw in the engineering of ORR as it was built on international standards. The participants opined that lack of awareness about lane driving, overspeeding, difficulty in reading the signages, sleeplessness, drunk driving are the major causes of fatal accidents. To overcome these deficiencies, various measures like creating awareness through signages, painting the road to maintain lane driving, carrying reflective triangles in the vehicles, installing speed guns, providing water to drivers to freshen up and so on were unanimously accepted by all for implementation.
