GHMC chief briefs CS on rains

Hyderabad, Aug.31: GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy, who monitored the situation in the rain-ravaged areas today called on Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma at Secretariat and informed him about the measures being taken as the officials found 1197 houses in bad condition and steps were being taken to avert problems. Talking to media persons, the GHMC Commissioner said they are on alert as the rains are likely to hit for two more days and asked people of low-lying areas to be cautious. “Besides shifting the people to safe places, we asked them to remain careful and avoid any incident due to rains”, he said. Janardhan Reddy also said various departments were involved in the rescue operations, clearing the traffic, attend to water clogged roads, drainages and removing hurdles for smooth traffic movement and releasing waters from Hussain Sagar and alerted the people to be affected.
