1969 separatist agitators demand pension
Demanding that the TRS government recognize Telangana agitators’ sacrifices for a separate State, the Telangana Movement Detenus Forum-1969 (TMDF-1969) has decided to go on hunger strike as the government failed to sanction pensions to them. Speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Friday, TMDF-1969 president Prof. Nanumasa Swamy and other leaders Karampudi Sathyanarayana Raju, K Sudarshan Rao, KN Chari and Ram Reddy said they would launch a hunger strike after discussing the issue at a meeting. They said though they submitted memoranda several times to the governments, including Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, but nothing had happened and the 1969 Telangana agitators were starving. Stating that they went to jail in 1969, they lamented that the present government was not recognizing the sacrifices of the 1969 movement.
