AP hospitals to give tags for mother & new born to prevent baby-lifting

The government has formed six teams to locate the new-born that was stolen from the Old Government Hospital in Vijayawada. Stating this on Friday, Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas said CC footage was being followed for finding the culprit amid reports that a woman had stolen the baby. At that time, the CCTV cameras in the hospital did not work. The baby born to Kalyani was stolen from the incubator in the ICU unit in the hospital, where the glass door was locked. The person who committed the theft had broken the glass to lift the child. The minister said if the hospital staff was found to be negligent, stringent action would be taken against them. The minister proposed to give smart tags to a mother and her baby in the government hospital so an alarm would go off if someone other than the mother handles the child.
