New-born stolen from Vijayawada Govt Hospital

A new-born baby suffering from jaundice was lifted by unknown persons from the ICU in the Government Hospital in Vijayawada on Thursday. The distraught parents, Subramanyam and Kalyani, looked for their baby in the ICU, but it was nowhere to be seen. Those who stole the baby had broken the glass door of the ICU to lift the baby. The CC cameras in the hospital were not functioning. Taking advantage of this, the baby was stolen. The new-born baby was put in an incubator because of jaundice. A staffer in the hospital remembered a woman carrying a baby, but did not confront the person, thinking it was under care. While Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas has asked for a report from the HOD of the hospital, the parents, relatives and NGOs are demanding the minister's resignation for the serious lapse in the hospital because it was done by breaking the glass door of the ICU. They are also charging that the hospital staff were responsible for the disappearance of the baby. Because of the seriousness of the situation, the police have been deployed in the hospital.
