JP wishes Eid greetings to Muslims

Hyderabad, July 5: Wishing Muslims on the eve of Eid, Loksatta founder-president Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan today said true Islam should conquer political terrorist Islamism, which is fomenting violence, hatred and devastation across the world. The Eid should prevail upon people to have patience, humanity and unity, Jayaprakash Narayan said in his Eid greeting message. In the wake of violence unleashed by terrorists, every Indian should ponder which is real Islam and which is the true religion. The Loksatta founder said that Islam is not responsible for the present terrorism. Wahhabism encouraged by Saudi Arabia is the root of Jihadi terror, he said, adding that only 25 per cent of Saudi Arabia is Whhabi. A minor doctrine became dominant because of Saudi oil wealth and deliberate propagation of Wahhabism. The world paid a heavy price for oil dependence on Saudis. Exposing the Wahhabi fallacies and reducing dependence on Saudi oil are part of a solution, Jayaprakash Narayan said. Without hurtling sentiments of 16 crore Muslims in our country, they should be involved against terrorist violence, he said. Referring to the Common Civil Code, Jayaprakash Narayan said all sections of people should be taken into confidence. He welcomed the decision of consulting Law Commission on the issue.
