Three Apollo staffers held in kidney transplant racket
The PA of a leading doctor in the Apollo Group of Hospitals has been arrested, taking the number of staffers held to three in connection with the kidney racket that created a sensation in Delhi and five of their hospitals in other cities. In all 12 people have been arrested in the kidney racket. The kingpin, Rajkumar, was also arrested. The Delhi police are checking all the kidney transplant files in all the Apollo group hospitals. It was duing the checking of the records that the PA was also arrested. The case pertains to alleged cheating of donors who were paid only 10% while the tranplants cost Rs 25 lakh to Rs 40 lakh each. Hundreds of transplants were stated to have been performed in the Apollo Group Hospitals.
