Harish Rao directs officials to protest lakes from breakage
Hyderabad, June 5: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said the State was receiving bounty rainfall in some districts as the Monsoon is set to begin. At a review meeting on rains and Mission Kakatiya project review here on Sunday, the Irrigation minister said the flagship program is for irrigating farm lands in the rural pockets. He directed the officials to be cautious as there was a danger of breakage of lake beds during rainy season. “As the monsoon is setting in shortly, the officials should take up repair works of fixing gates to the lakebeds and water bodies in the villages”, he said. He also stated that Kharif preparations should be made in advance to procuring rain waters to ensure the water bodies, ponds and lakes get plenty of waters which are main sources of irrigation in the villages, he noted. “We are committed to offer the fruits of Mission Kakatiya to the villages and achieve more productivity through increased farm activity. The officials need to be cautions on completing the lakes revival program, he said. He sought details pertaining to rainfall, water levels in lakes and water bodies. The projects and the officials concerned should be ready to take all possible measures, he added.
