Messi makes a mess of ad revenue

Legendary Argentine footballer Lionel Messi has messed up with his tax returns. Spain, where he plays for Barcelona, has started a tax probe against him, charging he had evaded taxes to the tune of $4.5 million. Messi finances are looked ater by his father Jorge. The two are accused of using tax havens in Belize and Uruguay to conceal income from advertising. While the Messis deny any wrongdoing, the Spanish tax agency is demanding heavy fnes. The three-day trial of Messi began on Tuesday and he was expected to appear before the authorities on Thursday. Lionel Messi appears on ads for Banco, Sabadell, Danone, Adidas, Pepsi-Cola, Proctor an Gamble and Kuwit Food Company. In 2013, Messi and his father made a `corrective payment' of unpaid tax plus interest of $5.6 million.
