Will irrigate drought lands: Tummala

Hyderabad, May 14: On the last day of the campaign for Palair by-poll, TRS candidate and Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao here on Saturday vowed to turn green the parched lands of the region if he is given mandate. “The TRS achieved separate state and resolved the issues of jobs and funds and was making efforts to get the third issue of getting waters through projects”, he said. Talking to the media along with IT Minister KT Rama Rao, Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy, Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy and others at Khammam, Nageshwar Rao sought electors’ support and help to irrigate drought affected lands in the segment by receiving ample water for better cultivation. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has promised to provide irrigation waters by completing Bhakta Ramadasu and Sitarama projects in the districts, which will transform the entire Khammam into a green belt. The people should judge as to whom they should give vote, he said, adding that the ruling party has plans of developing the State and Khammam. At this juncture, some political parties were making mischievous comments and a vain bid to corner the ruling party, he rebutted. The Congress failed to complete the projects during 10-year rule, he rebuked. The Opposition Congress and the Telugu Desam are resorting to mud-slinging on the ruling party which is trying its best to complete the projects he said. The people are closely watching that the previous government designed the projects to irrigate only 2 lakh acres and failed to complete them. Now that the TRS is at helm of affairs is planning to irrigate 10 lakh acres as part of giving waters to one crore acres with redesigning and speedy completion of the projects, Rao stated.
