Tackle drought instead of blaming YCP, Padma tells TDP

Following the massive response to YCP's dharna programme at Macherla in Guntur district on Monday, the TDP government would at least now take corrective measure to mitigate the sufferings of the people due to drought conditions in Andhra Pradesh, party spokesman Vasireddy Padma said in Hyderabad. Though the situation had been severe in the 13 districts in the State, the State government had not taken it seriously. Nor did it write to the Centre seeking help. The TDP ministers had taken the dharna programme lightly, but after seeing the response they have been alerted. She said the Chandrababu Naidu Cabinet would now be meeting and demanded that an all-party meeting should be taken to Delhi for seeking adequate funds. Owing to lack of work, people were already migrating to other places. In this situation, instead of criticising the YCP to divert the attention of the people, the ministers should take the conditions seriously and work toward solutions, she added.
