Chandrababu promises full compensation to Girijans under Polavaram
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday assured the people of Khammam mandals that were merged with Andhra Pradesh that all help would be extended to them. Touring villages that would be submerged under the Polavaram project, Chandrababu said at a public meeting that in all 190 villages would come in for submergence under the project. Already 35,535 acres of land had been acquired for the project. Another 18,565 acres remained to be acquired for it. He assured the Girijans of the area that their interests would be well served. The Girjans who may have lost their lands under the project would have to be given alternative land. So another 14,850 acres land remained to be acquired. Land acquisition was a stupendous task. In fact, land acquisition required more funds than the construction of Polavaram itself. The new Land Acquisition Act of Andhra Pradesh would take their interests into account. One Integrated Tribal Development Authority would be set up for every four tribal mandals. Under no circumstances, Girijans would be adversely affected, he added.
