Talk of culture leaves TS Chair in tears
Congress leader DK Aruna bemoaned on Tuesday that if people who had no culture come to run the Assembly, things would be like what they were. Aruna's pointed remark hit the Chair in full face. Padma Devender Reddy, who was at that time in the Chair, was left in tears. Immediately, Minister Harish Rao, who looks after Telangana legislative affairs, rose up and demanded an apology from the Congress member. He reminded the House that in the past their own member had apologised to the Chair. He further reminded the House that in the neighbouring House a woman member was suspended for 1 year for such remarks. Intervening in the matter, Congress legislature party leader Jana Reddy said that in the House there was room for emotion and compassion. There is always the risk of freudian slip in words being uttered that may not have been intended. So things should not be blown out of proportion. Harish Rao said again an apology would do. Padma Devender Reddy recovered in the meanwhile and said she was leaving the matter to the good sense of the member concerned.
