AP Staff to be transfered to Vijayawada in stages

The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to transfer its officials to the temporary Secretariat being built at Velagapudi in Guntur district in stages. The employees have agreed to the transfers. Municipal and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana held talks with the employees representaitves on Monday. Chief Secretary Tucker was present. Later, talking to newsmen, Narayana told newsmen that by June 15, some 4000 employees would be leaving for Vijayawada, another 3000 by July, and additional 3000 employees by August. The ground floor of the Velagapudi Secretariat would be ready by June 15, when the employees would move in. By July, the first floor was expected to be ready, when more employees would be moving in. Still the use of `temporary' nature for the Secretariat raises doubts in the minds of the people. Calling `new' Secretariat and `temporary' nature at the same time makes it contradictory.
