Metro misses vital middle Hyderabad
The Metro will at last run from nowhere to nowhere from June 2. In 3 months' time, the Nagole-Mettuguda and Miyapur-SR Nagar stretches will have the Metro facility. While Telangana IT Minister K. Taraka Ramarao had said the Metro services would be available from June first week, the officials said that the service would start on June 2, Telangana formation day. Both the stretches are bound to leave the people stranded against the existing routes. The original aim of connecting Nagole to Hightech City will yet be far away. Therefore, the Mettuguda-SR Nagar stretch is vital for a semblance of Metro in Hyderabad. If the officials concerned could complete the stretch in the next 3 months, the people might forget the continuous inconvenience being caused by the Metro work. If the idea is to reach IT people living in the Nagole-LB Nagar area to Hightech City, the Mettuguda-SR Nagar stretch is vital. Otherwise the people would be moving between two ends with the vital middle excluded. The young IT Minister would hopefully take up with the Metro authorities the need for connecting Nagole to Hightech City rather than be content with the ends running on their own without the vital Mettuguda-SR Nagar middle. The two ends would help the people on the edges but not the people in the vital centre of Secunderabad, Begumpet, Musheerabad right up to Ameerpet. Metro is taking so long seeking only concessions from the government and not delivering the goods. The IT Minister who has the mandate of the people will have to take the matter up on their behalf with the Metro authorities.
