Bassi dropped from CIC short list
Delhi police chief BS Bassi has lost out in the running to the Central Information Commissioner position because of the happenings in the JNU. He was the top candidate for the position which he was to assume on his retirement next month. The JNU happenings, however, cannot be a reflection on Bhim Sain Bassi's professionalism. As the top cop, he held together the police well despite coming between two strong forces, the Centre and the AAP government that wants the police to do its bidding. The opposition parties in their power hunger are throwing all caution to the winds. Like all the top cops like J. Ribeiro of Bombay and KPS Gill, Bassi could still be given continuance of service. Delhi is hotbed of trouble with AAP on the one hand and JNU on the other, creating one problem or the other for the common man. Bassi could be the best bet to deal with the anarchic conditions.
