Delink us from TDP, BJP T urges leadership
The Telangana unit of the BJP has decided to render the swan song for its tie-up with the TDP in the State owing to the reversals the party is facing following its alliance with the `Andhra-based party.' The BJP unit, which met in Hyderabad on Thursday, made a resolution to snap ties with the TDP. The responsibility of conveying the BJP unit decision to the Central leadership was put on the unit president Kishan Reddy. Thy BJP unit's case is that by aligning with the TDP, the party had lost a good deal in the GHMC elections. The party is citing two reasons for this. First the TDP hardly secured one seat in the GHMC elections. Second, soon after the results were out two prominent TDP leaders, including diehard Yerrabelli Dayakar Rao, had boarded the Car of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti. Kishan Reddy, who is as much a senior in the BJP as Narendra Modi, is expected to impress on the Central leadership the need to delink from the TDP at least in this State. It remains to be seen whether the Central BJP leadership of Amit Shah will like the idea of changing horses in midstream when the party has so much at stake as a reliable party at the all-India level.
