Harish Ninja hero of body parts donation
Young Harish Ninjappa, of Tumkur, has made a spectacular sacrifice after his body was cut in two in a road mishap. Harish, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was conscious for a few minutes after the mishap which cut his body into two parts. Realizing he would be losing life shortly, the young man told the people around him that he was donating all that could be salvaged from his body, including the eyes, which were fine. His last words were, "I donate any part of my body that is useful for others, please." And he passed out. The bystanders wasted no time and transfered what was left of his body to the nearest hospital within 8 minutes of the accident. Narayan Netralaya Hospital Chairman Bhujang Shetty said Harish's eyes were safe in the hospital. Bones, muscles and blood vessels were cut in half, the doctor said. The sight was excruciating. Hosmath Hospital Medical Director Dr Ajit Benedict said Harish's brain was not affected. The doctors in the hospital were preparing to salvage whatever transplantable part in the youth's body. Harish was an employee of a voice outsourcing company, SSMS, and he was returning to Bangalore from his native Tumkur.
