Defectors are political prostitutes: Narayana

Not many can beat CPI leader K. Narayana in his political descriptions. On Saturday, he described those people's representatives who leave their party and join the ruling party for sharing spoils as `political prostitutes.' Pointing to the ruling TRS usurping TDP MLAs in Telangana, Narayana questioned how could encouraging political defections be right now, when Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had protested against the defection of his party MLAs into the then ruling Congress under the YS Rajasekhar Reddy regime. How can he now entertain the `political prostitutes'? Narayana asked. The CPI leader said cases should be filed against these `political prostitutes.' Till cases were not filed against the defectors, no woman in the oldest profession should be booked, he added. Of the dozen TDP MLAs in Hyderabad, ten have already deserted the party owing to pressure or inducements from the ruling party. A case was sought to be filed against Maganti Gopinath, Jubilee Hills TDP MLA, for he became a sore thumb refusing to desert the party in which he grew up.
