TRS bid for ex officio aided Mayor flops

The Hyderabad High Court is repeatedly disagreeing with Telangana's arguments on various issues. On Wednesday, the Telangana government sought to change the law in regard to ex officio powers so it could help its candidate win the Hyderabad Mayoralty. The High Court would have none of it. Continuing his arguments for the second day on Thursday, Telangana Advocate-General Ramakrishna Reddy argued that the law could be changed any number of times within 2 years of its framing. This related to ex officio powers. At this, the court told the AG that the government could do so only once. The court disagreed with the argument that the law could be amended any number of times within 2 years. The court chided the AG saying how he could argue the case without reading the AP Reoganisation Act in full. The court told the AG to read the law before making arguments the next time round. At this, the AG remained a spectator.
