Nandigama hostel blank, takes Rs.4 lakh cheque p.m.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau raids on Social Welfare hostels in Krishna district in Coastal Andhra is an eye-opener for all concerned. At a Social Welfare hostel at Nandigama, there was not a single student in the hostel. Alerted by the fact, the officials called for the hostel records. The hostel was receiving every month Rs.4 lakh for the upkeep of the hostel. But not a single student was enjoying the facility. Then how was the allocation being spent? The hostel warden is yet to give an answer. The ACB raids on the hostels were continuing. Some more interesting details are expected to come out. At one time Krishna district was known to be highly politically conscious district. The weaker sections in the district and their counterparts in Guntur district would demand their rights. What has happened to the political consciousness? Have they been dulled over the years, throwing social welfare to the winds? The leaders are expected to explain the situation.
