Poisonous substance found in Swarna Bar liquor

The preliminary inquiry into the adulterated liquor case in Swarna Bar in Vijayawada has established that the liquor sold in the bar got mixed with some strong poisonous substance. The samples have been sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad for confirmation and second opinion. The police pursuing the case have said that they would await the report of the CFSL about the adulteration that took a toll of 5 lives last year. Malladi Vishnu, former Congress MLA, has been arrested in connection with the adulteration case, as his family owns the bar. Vishnu's supporters see a political conspiracy in the arrest of their leader. They had gheraoed their party's senior leaders who came to call on Vishnu. Subsequently, Raghuveera Reddy, former Minister, condemned the arrest and alleged it was a political conspiracy by the ruling TDP.
