KCR receives blessings from Sringeri seer
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao's `Chandiyagam' worship at Erravelli in Medak district that began on Wednesday is a record of sorts, Sringeri peetham official Gaurishankar said. The scale on which the current `Chandiyagam' performance had been taken up was unprecedented and had not been attempted in the past 200 years, he added. On the occasion, Gaurishankar read out the message of blessings to KCR given by Sringeri Peethadhipati, Sri Bharatiteerdha Swami. The worship of the Chandimata for the welfare of the people of his State by KCR would enable him to make a mark in history. The Sringeri official compared KCR's effort with that of Panduputra Dharmaraja's `Rajasuya' Yagam of the Mahabharata fame, going by the scale of arrangements and rituals. With the Vedic pandits coming from all over the country for chanting mantras and reciting Sanskrit verses as part of the Chandi worship, the vedic venue (yagasthali) reflected a mini-India, he added.
