Taslima's `Lajja' poser to secularists in the intolerance debate

Bangladeshi authoress living in exile, Taslima Nasrin, has questioned the silence of noted Indian secularists, many of whom have returned their national awards. In a video post in Twitter, she wondered why they remained silent at the time when her book, `Lajja' (Shame) was released in Sundarayya Vignana Kendram in Hyderabad not long ago. The secularists' silence is also an act of intolerance, she argued. Their indifference was despite the fact that none in India had questioned or commented on the secular bona fides of her book. She pointed out that those who had opposed the book release were falsely motivated and that her book was a rare composition that had not criticised Islam as such.
