Uma Bharati asks AP, Odisha CMs to sort out Polavaram problems

Hyderabad, Dec 10: In a new twist to the issue of Polavaram project, Union Minister Uma Bharati today urged the chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Odisa to discuss and sort out the problem of tribals whose habitats would get submerged once the project gets completed. The Odisa-based tribals had been protesting against the Polavaram project for some time now. Speaking to media today in Delhi, the Union minister said the tribal displacement is a sensitive issue and needs to be tackled by the two chief ministers. Stating that Polavaram is a national project, she said, "Chandrababu Naidu's government has been doing a wonderful job with the Polavaram project. However, he needs to take the tribal issue in consideration. If necessary I am willing to even speak to Odisa CM Naveen Patnaik on the issue."
