Case against 'Bajirao Mastani' for showing 'Pinga' song as item song
Hyderabad, Nov 26: President of NGO- Bharat against Corruption Hemant Patil has filed a petition in a Pune court requesting it to ban Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film 'Bajirao Mastani'. In the petition, Patil alleged that the film has distorted history that relates to late king Shrimant Bajirao Peshwe and his family members, according to advocate Wajid Khan, who appeared on behalf of Hemant Patil. The case is to come up for hearing on November 26 before the Pune Metropolitan Magistrate S S Bhule, Wajid Khan said. In the petition, Patil further alleged that shows late king Bajirao Peshwe's wives Kashibai and Mastani in the 'Pinga' song. In the song, actresses Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, who play the two lead roles, are seen dancing together. According to Patil this "distorts" history. Patil said in his petition that 'Pinga' dance is an integral part of Marathi culture and has been portrayed as an 'item song' in the film. Patil named Bhansali, Chopra and Padukone as respondents.
