Kapus to get BC status in AP
Vijayawada, Nov 03: The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to include Kapu community in BC (Backward Classes) list. The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting held in Vijayawada yesterday. The government would soon appoint backward class commission to ensure that inclusion of Kapus in BC category would not adversely affect the career and educational prospects of the communities already figuring in BC list. Besides this government would set up a corporation with Rs 100 crore fund for development of Kapus. Various Kapu organisations have demanded the government to allocate 1,000 crore fund for the corporation. Chandrababu wooed back the community into TDP fold in 2014 elections by promising BC status. He allocated Deputy Chief Minister post to a Kapu leader Nimmakayala Chinarajappa. Kapus are demanding BC status for the past several decades.
