Rs 200 cr ISKCON Golden Temple at Kondaveedu
Amaravati (Guntur), Sep 25: International Society for Krishna Consciousnesses (ISKCON) will construct a Golden Temple with an expenditure of Rs 200 crore at Kondaveedu near here.
The ground-breaking ceremony will be on October 22 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone.
The AP government has allocated 81.03 acres for the temple on lease basis for a period of 99 years.
ISKCON project director Satya Gopinath Das said that rare idol of young Krishna (Venna Mudda Gopaludu) which was found in excavations at the historical Kondaveedu Fort, would be installed in the Golden Temple.
The sanctum sanctorum would be coated with 24-carat gold and Rs 100 crore will be spent for this purpose.
