High Court quashes case against Chiranjeevi

Hyderabad, September 23: The Hyderabad High Court yesterday quashed the criminal proceedings pending against popular Telugu actor and Congress MP Chiranjeevi. The police registered the case against Chiranjeevi at Nandyal in Kurnool in 2008 while he was participating in a road show as the president of erstwhile Praja Rajyam party. The police filed the case on the charges of causing obstruction to traffic. Chiranjeevi claimed in his petition that High Court on earlier occasions pulled up police for registering cases without receiving complaint from any individual. Agreeing with the petitioner's contentions, the judge quashed the proceedings. It may be noted that Chiranjeevi merged Praja Rajyam Party with Congress.
