PV's name recommended for Bharat Ratna

Hyderabad, Sep 15: The Telangana State government has recommended former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao's name for Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award. Similarly, the government recommended names of Telangana ideologue Prof. Jayashankar and eminent educationist and former UGC chairman Prof. G Ram Reddy for Padma Vibushan awards. Dr Chukka Ramaiah's, popularly know as IIT Ramaiah, name was recommended for Padma Shri award. The Telangana government has recommended 47 names to the Centre for the Padma awards to be presented on the occasion of January 26. A committee headed by Telangana Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma has finalised the list. Bharat Ratna award instituted in 1954, is given in recognition of exceptional service, performance of highest order in any field of human endeavour. Recommendations for Bharat Ratna are made by Prime Minister to President.
