Attack on Marredpally PS: 36 arrested

Hyderabad, August 10: About 36 persons were arrested so far in the attack on Marredpally police station. All the accused will be produced in the Secunderabad city civil court today. On the occasion of Bonalu festival, a home guard from Karimnagar was posted to Gandhi Nagar in Marredpally. He complained to West Marredpally police that an auto driver, Bannappa, attacked him. Marredpally police took Bannappa into custody and his relatives got him released on Monday. Some time after returning home, Bannappa fell unconscious. His family members took him to RMP doctor who told them to take him to Gandhi Hospital as his condition was critical. Bannappa died on his way to Gandhi Hospital. His family members and relatives staged a dharna in front of the police station with the body. They attacked and thrashed SI and constables, destroyed vehicles on the premises, broke furniture and set them on fire.
