Flipkart to sell APCO handloom textiles
Hyderabad, Aug 07: The Andhra Pradesh State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society (APCO) will soon ink pact with e-commerce major Flipkart for marketing handloom textiles. The Government will implement the pact after the bifurcation of APCO between the two Telugu states. The move was aimed to market the product all over the world and to face stiff competition from local vendors. There is a proposal to set up outlets at all major cities in the state. Venkatagiri, Dharmavaram, Mangalagiri, Uppada cotton textiles brands will be retained by AP government. But APCO officials were also planning to sell Pochamapally and Gadwal sarees. Textiles Minister Kollu Ravindra said that online trade would give boost to handloom textile business.
