Govt incurs a loss of Rs 7 on post card, Rs 5 on inland letter
Delhi, Aug 05: Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today informed the Parliament that department of posts suffered a loss of Rs 7.03 per post card and Rs 4.93 on every inland letter in the financial year 2013-14. The Minister said that traffic of inland letters and letters increased in the past two years. He said that 18.16 lakh stamps were printed under the personalised postage stamp scheme 'My Stamp' and earned a revenue of Rs 4.57 crore. The highest revenue of Rs 54 lakh was generated in Tamil Nadu under 'My Stamp' scheme. The average revenue earned for other services like parcel, registration, speed post is also lower than the average cost.
