Shifting of Osmania hospital patients begins

Hyderabad, July 29: The process of shifting patients from Osmania General Hospital started since Wednesday morning. Patients from general medicine, general surgery, surgical gastro and medicat gastro wings will be shifted to Sultan Bazaar maternity hospital. The orthopedic wing will be shifted to King Koti hospital in the afternoon. In total, 740 beds will be added to Sultan Bazaar maternity hospital. Meanwhile, out-patient services and emergency wings will continue as usual in Osmania hospital, informed hospital Superintendent Raghu. This was done following the decision of Telangana government to demolish the heritage building and to construct new ones in its place. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao after a visit to the hospital was concerned over the dilapidated condition of the hospital building, which he felt could collapse any time.
